Fatiha, a teacher from the South of France, tells Jamal Elaheebocus why the International Anti-War Conference is so important

My name is Fatiha, I’m from Morocco but I spent all my life in France, I’m mother of 5 and I’m an English teacher in the South of France (the Provence region). As an activist, I hate injustice and double standards of our governments.

First of all, the peace conference is necessary now more than ever because of all the current illegal wars all over the world but more specifically in the Middle East.

In France, our president Emmanuel Macron and his government have decided to increase the army budget while the education, health and the justice budgets are neglected. Many demonstrations have taken place all over France without any response from the government.

It is crucial we develop an international anti-war movement to show those warmongers that we, the people, are united against imperialism, and are ready to stand together to support this anti-war movement.

I hope to see peace prevail in the future and in the world; I know it sounds a bit idealistic but as long as we keep on trying, we’re still alive.
