London – NEU Summer Day of Action 11 July
Daniel Kebede, NEU General Secretary says
‘In the last year alone, school cuts have deepened by an additional £1 billion.
Instead of being given the tools to thrive, pupils are being forced into crumbling classrooms with ballooning classes, taught by exhausted staff who are stretched to breaking point.
We can’t go on like this.
That’s why we are inviting you to take part in our Summer Day of Action on Saturday, 11 July — a massive, coordinated, nationwide push to demand that the Government finally gives children the education they deserve.
This day is about taking our message straight to the heart of our communities and building overwhelming public support for restoring school funding.
We need everyone to play a part, Pete . You can:
- Leaflet your local area to ensure parents are fully aware of the reality our schools are facing.
- Set up a campaign stall to talk directly to the public and sign up new recruits.
- Put our school communities on the map so decision-makers cannot ignore us.
To make this happen, we need people in every town, city and village rolling up their sleeves:
So many of our politicians have spoken passionately about the power of a great state education.
But words don’t fix leaky roofs or hire more teachers.
We need real, meaningful action.
Let’s show the Government we refuse to accept their new normal.
With determination,’
