Glasgow – Islamophobia, War & the Far Right: How We Fight Back
Fascist riots have ripped through the UK, attacking Mosques and refugee centres. Exposing a seem of violent anti-Muslim bigotry encouraged by mainstream politicians and the media, these events have also demonstrated that thousands are prepared to resist the fascists and the rhetoric that empowers them. But how should we understand the origins of the new far right? How have decades of British state foreign policy, from Iraq to Gaza, and the atmosphere of the War on Terror contributed to its rise? And how can we best fight back against both the street level threat and the establishment?
Shabbir Lakha has played a key role in many of the UK’s biggest demonstrations over recent years, including with the Palestine solidarity movement. He spoke recently at the historic anti-facist mobilisations in London.
