Doncaster: Why does the UK support Israel?
Throughout Israel’s genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza, the British government has given full support to Israel. Even after the ICJ ruling calling effectively for a cessation in violence because of a plausible case of genocide, Sunak’s government’s response was to stop funding for humanitarian aid organisation UNRWA instead of ending arms sales to Israel or backing a ceasefire.
Writer and Palestine solidarity activist Sean Ledwith will discuss why the British state is so committed to supporting Israel even as it massacres Palestinians and what this means for our movement.
