For unity and for a non-slate independent voice arguing for a radical, insurgent YP, make Michael your number 1 vote in the Your Party CEC election

The Your Party CEC elections continue. Michael Lavalette, a Counterfire member, is standing in the ‘public office holders’ section. We are asking you to vote for him as your first choice.

Michael is not on either of the slates, but is standing to unite the party around a common socialist programme: address the cost of living crisis, renationalise our public services, promote welfare not warfare, oppose all forms of oppression, for a green new deal, for civil liberties and the repeal of all anti-union legislation.

His argument is that YP should be an insurgent, radical party embedded in our communities, trade unions and social movements. A party that speaks on behalf of, and to the millions of working-class people looking for an alternative to the politics of despair.

If you haven’t voted please make sure you do (via the member portal)! Please also make sure you are sharing Michael’s election material in all Facebook and WhatsApp groups. Encourage everyone you know to vote Michael #1.

You may have seen that the interim leadership has decided to use what is considered the most conservative version of STV for the election. The consequences are that it is very unlikely that anything apart from first and second preferences will count.

Given this, it is essential for unity and for a non-slate independent voice arguing for a radical, insurgent YP, make Michael your number 1 vote.

Before you go

The ongoing genocide in Gaza, Starmer’s austerity and the danger of a resurgent far right demonstrate the urgent need for socialist organisation and ideas.
