Tower Hamlets – NEU strike

Staff in Whitechapel’s Access Creative College are striking over pay, workload, and overcrowding at the privately-owned government-funded further education institution

Whitehapel Access Creative College (ACC) staff have walked out for a fourth week over pay, overcrowded classrooms, rising workloads, job insecurity and what unions describe as a failure by management to engage in negotiations.

The National Education Union (NEU) said that staff at ACC received lower pay than teachers in other publicly funded schools and further education colleges.

Support staff, the NEU said, earned £26,050 a year. An annual salary at the London Living Wage is just under £29,000.
Strike days: 2, 4, 6, 10 and 12 March.
