UnionNews reports on scores of electricians and supporters taking part in further protests around the country against plans by seven rogue construction employers to try to force cuts in safety, skill levels and pay across the industry.
Sparks blocked traffic outside Kings Cross station in central London and occupied the station concourse. Dozens more mounted a picket at the entrance to the Commonwealth Games cycling arena in Glasgow – one of the highest profile construction sites in the country.
Union officials reported 1500 men from inside Lindsey Oil Refinery attended one impromptu gate meeting. Hundreds more attended meetings at other gates and outside the Conoco plant. We estimated that around 200 Unite members and supporters on the mid-morning march along the perimeter of the site between the two plants.
