Glasgow – The Fight for a Left Alternative: Post-Election Discussion
In the recent UK General Election, independent pro-Palestine candidates won 5 seats and garnered a significant number of votes at constituency level.
With the backing of mass campaigns, Jeremy Corbyn was re-elected, Andrew Feinstein slashed Keir Starmer’s vote share, and Iqbal Mohamed defeated his rival Labour candidate by near 7k votes.
Labour may have toppled the Tories, but their majority is shallow. In Scotland, the SNP vote has collapsed. The far-Right, as in France, have made ground.
Join our online meeting to discuss how the left can build from these campaigns and the movement for Palestine.
Michael Lavalette is an anti war campaigner who was nominated by the community in Preston to run as an independent. He came second in his constituency, winning over 8k votes on a ‘Palestine plus’ manifesto.
