King’s Lynn Without Incinerator (KLWIN) held an open public meeting, on Friday 18 June, about the plan to build a giant incinerator at Saddlebow, near King’s Lynn, Norfolk.

KLWIN campaigners found that local people knew nothing about this plan until they saw KWLIN petitions and leaflets. Despite the World Cup, more than 100 came to the meeting.

KLWIN is dedicated to preventing the construction of the proposed waste-to-energy incineration plant in the area.

Joel Hull, Norfolk County Council’s project director for residual waste services, spoke for the plan and John Beresford of Nottingham Against Incineration and Landfill spoke against.

Dr Ian Gibson, former MP for Norwich North, chaired the meeting and there was a 100% vote against the plan!
